Cerner Corp. will acquire ADAC Laboratories' Health Care Information Systems business, excluding its Cardiology Systems Group, for $6 million cash. The companies expect to complete the transaction in November 2000, pending customary closing conditions and regulatory approval. ADAC's HCIS business produces information and image management solutions for radiology departments.

Swiss-based DrGlobe.com, which launched its Health Account service in July 2000, has introduced a new online service which can be a life saving support for individuals in emergencies. The emergency access service allows health professionals to access patient emergency data anytime, anywhere around the world through the worldwide web. In case of emergency, health professionals enter the code in the DrGlobe.com system to access the cardholder's emergency information anywhere, anytime around the world, either through the web or soon using wireless devices. The annual fee to obtain an emergency card, which includes the Health Account service, is fifteen Euros ($12).

ePhysician has formed a strategic alliance with MedPlus, Inc. a leading provider of physician-focused electronic solutions with more than 20 million patient records. MedPlus will market ePhysician solutions to customers and make ePhysician applications available to its physician users across the United States. The alliance allows ePhysician to enable physicians to access comprehensive drug information, electronically prescribe medication and save the prescription record within the E.Maxx data repository. E.Maxx is MedPlus' electronic private health record system that brings together patient records, lab results, insurance information and billing history into a central data repository.

GenomeWeb.com has launched a web news service on genomics business and technology focused pharmaceutical research, biotechnology, clinical applications and agriscience. GenomeWeb.com is operated by New York-based GenomeWeb LLC.

Data Critical Corporation has entered into an agreement with Laboratory Corporation of America Holdings (LabCorp). Under the agreement, physicians will be able to order laboratory tests and receive results through the MobileLab service component of unwiredDr, Data Critical's wireless web services for physicians.

Orchid BioSciences, Inc. has launched BoneMarrowTest.com by the Bone Marrow Services group of its GeneScreen subsidiary. BoneMarrowTest.com is a web site established to assist patients needing bone marrow transplants in accessing private donor testing. BoneMarrowTest.com is the first of a series of DNA and genetic diversity web initiatives that Orchid plans to sponsor.
