The slides are the first products to use the company's proprietary OptiChem coatings. Genzyme Molecular Oncology, a division of Genzyme Corporation has signed an exclusive patent license for use of a gene believed to be implicated in metastatic colon cancer. Discovered at The Johns Hopkins University, the phosphatase enzyme called PRL-3 has been shown to be expressed in much higher levels in colon cancer cells that have metastasized to the liver than in non-metastatic colon tumors and normal colon tissue. Molecular Devices Corp. has launched two new assay kits using its proprietary IMAP technology. The kits -- the p38 Assay Kit and MAPKAP K2 Assay Kit -- incorporate kinase enzymes from Upstate Biotechnology. Both the p38 and MAPKAP K2 are important targets in the development of new therapies for cancer and arthritis. PerkinElmer Life Sciences has introduced a full set of gene probes for use in genetic typing of type 1 diabetes based on PerkinElmer Life Sciences' DELFIA technology.
