Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Minnesota has partnered with American Healthways to develop a comprehensive series of care enhancement programs that use high tech tools to help identify at-risk individuals for many conditions and provide personalized care enhancement services to members with these conditions who choose to enroll. Beginning in March 2002, American Healthways will manage and expand Blue Cross' diabetes and heart disease services. A program for coronary disease will be added in April; asthma and end stage renal disease in May; and 11 other conditions that seriously affect the quality of life will be added in June: chronic hepatitis/cirrhosis, incontinence, ulcers, osteoarthritis, low back pain, osteoporosis, fibromyalgia and others. CyberCare, Inc. and IBM are codeveloping telehealth remote monitoring and real time interactive communication systems by utilizing IBM e-business solutions and CyberCare's Electronic HouseCall family of products. Dynamic Healthcare Technologies, Inc. is merging with Cerner Corporation. Cerner will acquire all outstanding common shares of Dynamic in exchange for 362,791 shares of Cerner common stock. Dynamic markets clinical and diagnostic workflow solutions for pathology, laboratory and radiology services in hospitals, clinics and ambulatory care settings. The Company's systems are installed in more than 640 client locations. e-MedSoft.com has announced that its Trestle Corporation subsidiary plans to integrate its previously announced bioagent detection capability as a feature in an upcoming version of its MedMicroscopy product line. The new version, expected to be released by the fall of 2002, is planned to provide bioagent functionality and address the needs of the general microbiology and hematopathology market segments. This extended MedMicroscopy application together with Trestle's MedReach telemedicine solution is expected to offer a multipurpose tool in both medical and pharmaceutical markets. Specific additional applications for this system are expected to include general microbiology and hematopathology. While not yet confirmed, Trestle's scientists believe the system could also complement new rapid bio-agent detection technologies, such as the rapid PCR test reported by the Mayo Clinic, and help provide multi-specialty second opinion on difficult cases.
