Bayer Biological Products has acquired the rights for a handheld computer designed to help people with hemophilia maintain product information, track and report home treatments, access educational materials, and communicate with health care providers. In addition, this disease management organizer may have applications in gathering data for clinical trials. The device was developed by Arrowhead Electronic Healthcare, LLC. Diametrics Medical has launched the Blood Analysis Portal, jointly developed with Philips Medical Systems. The FDA approved Portal is a Point of Care Diagnostics blood analysis device that integrates biochemical testing alongside physiologic parameters on Philips' patient monitoring systems at the bedside. Portal utilizes Diametrics' standard IRMA SL disposable cartridges, which deliver results for blood gases, electrolytes, chemistries, hematocrit, and other calculated parameters. MayoClinic.com has developed a new service that guides men with early-stage prostate cancer through the decision-making process to determine what treatment option is best for their individual situation. The new service is an Early-Stage Prostate Cancer Health Decision Guide that looks at five common treatment options with accompanying charts that identify the pros and cons of each treatment choice.
