Applied Biosystems, an Applera Corporation business, and Myriad Proteomics Inc. have formed a collaboration to develop new technologies and applications for proteomics. Myriad Proteomics intends to use the Applied Biosystems 4700 Proteomics Analyzer with TOF/TOF Optics as a major platform in its efforts to map the human proteome and to identify drug targets for the prevention and treatment of human disease.

AutoGenomics, Inc. has introduced the INFINITI System that integrates genomic and proteomic analyses into a continuous flow, automated system. The system is based on patent-pending thin film technology, AutoGenomics' BioFilmChip microarray and Qmatic operating software.

Biacore International AB and BD Biosciences Pharmingen are collaborating to develop applications for Biacore's microarray chip technology based on its proprietary Surface Plasmon Resonance (SPR) technology.

MicroFluidic Systems Inc. has entered into a contract with Roche Molecular Systems, Inc. to develop some microfluidics-based automated technologies for possible use by RMS in RMS's PCR-based clinical diagnostics systems.

Variagenics, Inc. has completed a license agreement with St. Jude Children's Research Hospital covering CYP3A5 genotyping methods and diagnostic test kits predictive of variable expression of CYP3A5. CYP3A5 has been associated with the metabolism of a wide range of cancer therapeutics, including irinotecan (Camptosar, Pharmacia Corporation).
