AmeriPath, Inc. has signed a five-year strategic alliance agreement with Roche Diagnostics to establish a series of Molecular Centers of Excellence to perform esoteric genomic diagnostic testing using Roche's PCR and other advanced genomic technologies. Cepheid has entered into an agreement to collaborate with the Advanced Diagnostic Systems division (ADS) of Ortho-Clinical Diagnostics, Inc., for the development of DNA-based tests to be run on Cepheid's Smart Cycler instrument in the field of cancer. ADS will also serve as a manufacturer's representative for Cepheid in the sale of Smart Cycler II's for use with the ADS assays on a worldwide basis. Molecular Staging Inc was awarded a grant to produce large samples of valuable genomic DNA, by the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney disease (NIDDK) of the National Institutes of Health. The samples will be made widely available to the scientific community for ongoing genetic disease studies. Zyomyx, Inc., has introduced its Protein Profiling Biochip System and the Zyomyx Human Cytokine Biochip. The Protein Profiling Biochip System consisting of biochips, an Assay 1200 automated workstation, the Scanner 100 biochip reader and data analysis software.
