Instrumentation Laboratory has received FDA clearance to market the Intelligent Quality Management (iQM) system, an automated Quality Assurance system, for use with the GEM Premier 3000 critical care analyzer and which replaces the use of conventional external quality control. iQM continuously monitors operation of the entire analytical process, including sensors, fluidics and electronics, following the same path that a patient sample travels. iQM also automatically performs and documents corrective actions upon detection of any error. Intracorp has expanded its Smart Steps disease management programs to help patients better manage a wider range of chronic diseases including congestive heart failure, asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. This brings the total number of chronic conditions Smart Steps will manage to five. Intracorp first introduced diabetes disease management in 1998 and the following year added a program that manages coronary heart disease. McKesson Corporation has introduced InterQual Clinical Evidence Summaries, an extension of InterQual Criteria that aids healthcare organizations in supporting second-level medical review recommendations and promoting evidence-based standards of care. The InterQual Clinical Evidence Summaries offer a tool to advocate for the implementation of standards that reflect the current medical evidence at the individual patient level.
