Illumina, Inc. has introduced the BeadStation 500G system for performing medium-scale genotyping. The BeadStation 500G supports a new high-density version of the BeadChip - the Sentrix 16HD BeadChip. This BeadChip allows simultaneous processing of 16 samples, interrogating up to 1536 SNP loci per sample.

NanoInk, Inc., has received the first award of a two-phase $1.3 million Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) grant from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) to support the development of NanoInk's patented Dip Pen Nanolithography technology for ultra-miniaturization of DNA arrays.

Specialty Laboratories has launched its Cystic Fibrosis 70 GenotypR, a new genetic screening test for Cystic Fibrosis (CF) and Cystic Fibrosis carrier status. The test screens for 70 of the most clinically important mutations of the CF gene found in US population groups. The test was developed in collaboration with Tm Bioscience Corporation.
